Here is a very nice octopus silver and Whitby Jet pendant hand made in Derbyshire. It is 35mm x 14mm to the top of the bail with a 7mm x 9mm Whitby Jet cabochon and is set in 925 sterling silver octopus shaped setting. All of our jet is found by ourselves on yearly family holidays to Whitby and Scarborough!

A popular Yorkshire coastal town, Whitby is famous for its stunning scenery, fish and chips and of course Jet! Some 180 million years old, the gemstone Whitby jet is actually fossilised wood of the Araucaria tree perhaps more recently known as the Monkey Puzzle tree! Whitby jet is famed for is deep and intense black colour and the lustrous shine that can be achieved by polishing it. It is also very light in weight making it perfect for jewellery!
