Here is a very nice pair of Blue John stud style earrings, hand made in Derbyshire. They are 6mm diameter Blue John stone. The earrings are 925 sterling silver.
All of our Blue John jewellery is made from recycled/damaged John pieces or collectors specimens. Some pieces have been pre-stabilised or treated by ourselves using the traditional pine resin way! Blue John also known as ‘Derbyshire Spar’ is a very rare semi precious type of Fluorite found in only one place in the world – Castleton, Derbyshire. Blue John is famed for its purple, blue and golden yellow bandings, which runs through the stone and makes each piece of Blue John gemstone unique.
Caring for Blue John - It is a fairly soft stone. Rated 4 on the Mohs scale and contains or has natural inclusions within its structure. When held up to light these may become more visible. Care should be taken in regards to handling of the jewellery especially with rings. Please keep chemicals away from Blue John and use only a soft cloth to wipe clean.
